    HURLEY — Voters in the Hurley School District will decide on April 2 whether the Midget mascot will remain. The school board Monday approved wording for a referendum that will ask: “Should the Hurley School District’s mascot symbol and name be changed?” School board president Joe Simonich, of Kimball, originally asked if it’s time for a name change.     WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Mary Juno, 97, a lifetime resident of Ironwood, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Nov. 19, 2018. Mary was born on Sept. 23, 1921, in Ironwood to John and Catherine (Santacatterina) Bonato. She attended St. Ambrose School and Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood.     IRONWOOD, Mich. — Shirley Kapitan, 92, passed away on Nov. 20, 2018. Shirley was born on Feb. 25, 1926, in Superior, Wis. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Superior and the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. In 1952, she married William “Bill” Kapitan. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2002. Shirley began her career as a teacher at Puritan School in Bessemer. She was later a substitute teacher with the Ironwood Area School District.
