    LANSING — State Rep. Greg Markkanen, R-Hancock, is advocating Houghton County acquire a closed prison facility in Painesdale and convert it into a regional jail for the Western Upper Peninsula.     MARENSICO — The Marensico Township Historical Society is sponsoring a presentation on local stage coach robber Reimund Holzhey later this month. The presentation by local historian Bruce Cox will take place at 6 p.m. May 14 at the township museum on Center Street. Holzhey is credited with the last stage coach robbery in the state when he held up a stage carrying four prominent bankers on their way to vacation at Lake Gogebic Aug. 26, 1889, according to information on the Michigan State University libraries’ website.
