    WAKEFIELD - Wakefield-Marenisco wrapped up the Porcupine Mountain Conference title outright with a 66-31 victory over Ewen-Trout Creek Monday night. It was W-M's first PMC title since 2004. The Cardinals also won a share of the Indianhead East Division with Hurley. "We're excited about that," W-M coach Pete Yon said. "Hopefully we can carry some of this momentum into the tournament."   • Students attend day-long Life Quest Program at GCC

    IRONWOOD - Area high school students gathered in the gymnasium of Gogebic Community College's Lindquist Center for a Life Quest Program on Monday. The event was not open to the general public due to a lack of space, as witnessed by the bleachers filled with students.     IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP - Citing, in part, that job descriptions were in the process of being rewritten, the board of trustees voted to table Rachel Peck's request to join Michigan Council 25 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. Robert Murphy - a staff representative with the union - spoke on behalf of Peck, who serves as the township's secretary and deputy treasurer.     To the Editor: Since board members at the Meet the Candidates forum at the Hurley High School said they wouldn’t have signed the lease if they knew what was in it and Iron County Chairman Joe Pinardi said he was working to renegotiate the lease, they shouldn’t float Gogebic Taconite for a year on the lease. Very few people actually attend meetings to see what is really going on and seem to prefer to talk in generalizations or call anyone who doesn’t like the lease names. He is survived by his wife, Norma; son, Ron Belmas, of Ramsey; daughter, Brenda (Randy) Zoglman, of Bessemer; grandchildren, Allen Barto, Brad (Kim Leinon) Belmas, Mark (Tony Sundberg) Belmas, Nikki (Tim) Lynott, Casey (Brent) Boersma, Jeff (Erinn) Corullo; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Elsie Langrehr.
