    BERGLAND - Six Bergland residents met Sunday afternoon to plant flowers in an effort to catch the eyes of people visiting the town. The volunteers moved the flowers, mostly petunias and geraniums, from their original containers and placed them in plastic planters. Wendy Savola, the leader of the effort, said she and another member began the flower planting project five years ago in an attempt to "make people slow down and actually look" as they drive through the small town on Lake Gogebic....

    BEAVER GROVE, Mich. — Connie M. Ojaniemi, 67, of Beaver Grove, passed away Thursday morning, May 19, 2016, at her home. Connie was born on Nov. 18, 1948, in Crystal Falls, to the late Wallace and Verle (Greenland) Routheaux. She married Larry Ojaniemi Jr. on Nov. 18, 1966, in Ontonagon. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Harvey and was also active in the Senior Center.
