BESSEMER — Members of the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners and the Gogebic County Fair Board again reached an impasse during a meeting last week. BESSEMER — Members of the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously last week to fund the county 4-H coordinator as a full-time position for eight months, from April 1 to Nov. 30 in 2024, at a salary of $40,000. Until now, 4-H Coordinator Ashley Dennis has been employed on a part-time basis. WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Walter David Hilty, 74, passed away on Oct. 16, 2023, from complications of COVID. Walter was born on Sept. 29, 1949, in White Township, Pennsylvania. Walt was an obstinate bull-headed man that persevered through decades of ongoing health issues. He was a loving husband, a great stay-at-home dad and a superior cook. ARTESIA, N.M. - Murdock "Murdy: Binney Juntilla, greatest husband and Dad ever, passed away in his sleep at his home in Artesia, New Mexico, on July 17, 2023. He was born Aug. 5, 1931, in Ironwood, Michigan, to Mauno and Ingrid (Johnson) Juntilla. He was one of three children and is survived by his younger sisters, Sally and Mary Jane. FAIRHOPE, Ala. - Ronald Lee Polvi, age 85, of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on Dec. 14, 2023. He was born March 13, 1938, in Chicago, and raised in Ironwood, Michigan.
