ROCHESTER, Minn. - Leonard "Beno" James Arasim, 91, passed away on June 15, 2015, at his residence in Rochester. On May 15, 1924, Leonard was born in Ironwood, Mich., to the late William and Proxeda Arasim and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1942. He was drafted in World War II and served in the 672nd Amtrac Battalion, which received the Presidential Unit Citation for the Los Banos rescue mission in 1945. LAKE WALES, Fla. — Ken Bundy, 85, formerly of Lake Gogebic, passed away suddenly June 14, 2015, in Winter Haven Hospital. Ken was born on Dec. 2, 1929, in Mt. Morris, Mich., the son of Clifford and Nila (Wiederhold) Bundy. Ken had a life long dream to live on a lake in Michigan. He picked a good one and loved living on Lake Gogebic despite the fishing. WAKEFIELD — The Wakefield-Marenisco Board of Education held its budget/truth-in-taxation hearing Monday night before the regular board meeting. Business Manager Tina Trevarthen and Superintendent Catherine Shamion reported on the final 2014-15 budget amendments as well as the 2015-16 budget. HURLEY - Devoted to her passion for teaching English, student-teacher Taina Takamaki, 45, came to America with her family to teach at Hurley K-12 for summer school. A long way from home in Finland, Takamaki arrived in Wisconsin three weeks ago with her husband and three of her four children. IRONWOOD - Gogebic Community College hosted an American Rec Cross blood drive on Wednesday. First-time donors, frequent donors and everyone in-between showed up to give blood.
