    WAKEFIELD - The Wakefield-Marenisco School Board approved the 2014-15 budget at its meeting Monday evening. "The projected fund balance for June 30, 2015, is $72,237," said business manager Tina Trevarthen said. "We plan to end this year with a balance of $13,164." Superintendent Cathy Shamion presented the student growth model to the board.     IRONWOOD - The Ironwood Area Schools Board of Education adopted a projected budget for the 2014-2015 school year during a meeting Monday evening. The estimated fund balance for the year is $512,158. According to superintendent Tim Kolesar the fund balance will go through some changes over the course of the next year.     IRON BELT, Wis. - Donna Marie Vandevoorde, 79, of McKinnon Road, Iron Belt, died peacefully Saturday, June 28, 2014, at home, with her loving family by her side, following a courageous battle with kidney disease. The former Donna Lauzon was born April 18, 1935, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Willard Lauzon and Mabel Lauzon Swanson, and attended Ironwood schools. She married the love of her life, Jack Vandevoorde, on April 17, 1952, in Carlton, Minn. They were married for 62 years.... Full story

Kathryn graduated from Iron River High School, earned her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in social work, and went on to get her master's degree in social work from the University of Michigan.     ONTONAGON, Mich. — Lloyd L. Buccanero, 86, of Ontonagon, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, at the Aspirus Long Term Care Unit. Lloyd was born on Nov. 19, 1927, to Jesse (McKie) and Louis Buccanero in Iron Belt, Wis. He was a veteran of World War II. He enjoyed reading and playing cards with friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Claire (Morris) Buccanero; sister, Margaret Morello; brother, David; son, John; and special friend, Marlene “Tate Morrison” Blackorbay.     BESSEMER - In the Bessemer Hometown Run held on Saturday, the top overall male runners were Andy Warren, of Ironwood, in the 10K division and Sam Dean, of Ironwood, in the two mile run. Hannah Palmeter, of Bessemer, and Lily Wieringa, of Bessemer, were the top overall female runners in the 10K and the two mile divisions respectively.
