    IRONWOOD — Some blight issues and major payments will be considered by the Ironwood City Commission this evening. The meeting will begin at 5:20 p.m. with a public hearing on a blight violation at 225 Frenchtown Road. During the regular agenda, the commission will consider rejecting a demolition bid for blighted property at 206 Southwest St. and may seek a rebid.     IRONWOOD - The sun shined down on John Krznarich Little League Field for a long day of Little League 9-10-year-old District baseball and softball tournament play Sunday. Before any pitches were thrown, Jeff Wiemeri, Ryan Niemi and Shaun Munn of the host Penokee Range Little League, prepared the field for a day's worth of baseball and softball.   • Penokee Range girls capture District 11 title

    IRONWOOD - The nine and ten year-old Penokee Range All-Star softball team split two games in the district tournament at the John Krznarich field over the weekend, but Sunday's victory over Keweenaw in extra innings sent the Rangers to Esserville, Mich. for the Michigan State Softball Championship.   • White Pine American Legion Post to dedicate new memorial to those killed in action

    WHITE PINE - After nearly six years of planning, fundraising, design, and construction the White Pine American Legion Post 462 has completed it's new memorial to those killed in action. The effort to construct a new monument started because the original monument was crumbling and no longer suitable to honor "our fallen comrades from Carp Lake Township," said Ron Howard of the Ontonagon County Veterans Association.
