    DULUTH, Minn. - Kenneth Bowman, 80, of Ironwood, Mich., died Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, with his family by his side. He was born Jan. 14, 1936, in Menominee, Mich., son of the late Harry Basil and Esther Irene (Kamke) Bowman, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1953. The former LaViolet Nicholas was born March 11, 1928, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Samuel and Ethel (Alexander) Nicholas, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1946.     SPRINGSTEAD, Wis - The Sherman-Springstead Volunteer Fire Department held its annual corn roast fundraiser Saturday. Department Chief Ron King said turnout at the event was a little better than average for the event, which serves as the department's biggest fundraiser.     SPRINGSTEAD, Wis - A decade after it began, the latest running of the Springstead Sprint triathlon was held Saturday. A sprint-length event - meaning a shorter course - the race included a 400-meter swim, a 16.5-mile bike ride and 5K run. Competitors could compete individually or divide the legs of the race between teammates.
