    IRONWOOD - Harness racing packed the grandstand Friday afternoon at the Gogebic County Fairgrounds for six, fast-paced races. Chris Frenzel, out of Marshfield, Wis., brought five horses to the fair for the Friday races. He said he started racing at 16.     HURLEY - Lawyers representing the Aging Unit of Iron County and its former director are expected to be in court Monday for a motion hearing in a lawsuit regarding a dispute about the benefits the director is owed. A motion for summary judgement in the case, asking the case against the Aging Unit be dismissed, is one of items that will be handled in Monday's hearing.     HURLEY - For nearly all of the first half, the Hurley-Gogebic game was more than living up to the hype Friday night. The new-look Midgets looked solid, and the Miners, in their first game since Ironwood joined the Bessemer/Wakefield-Marenisco co-op, looked just as tough.     EAGLE RIVER, Wis. - Gene Raymond Ludtke, 80, of Eagle River, passed away on Thursday Aug. 24, 2017, at his home. He was born on July 25, 1937, in Milwaukee, to Milo and Clara (Lutz) Ludtke. He married Joyce Hegemann on Sept. 26, 1959, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Waterford.     IRON RIVER, Mich. — Donald H. Mansfield, 85, of Watersmeet, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, at Aspirus Hospital, Iron River. He was born Aug. 9, 1932, in Watersmeet, son of the late Herman and Iris (Peacock) Mansfield. Donald grew up and attended school in Watersmeet. He married Clara Greene in Watersmeet, and she preceded him in death in 1986. Donald worked for many loggers in the Watersmeet area for years before going to work for the Gogebic County Road Commission where he worked for around 10 years before retiring.
