    MARQUETTE, Mich. - Gloria Jean Kallaak (Ferguson) Metzner, 87, of Marquette, passed away on Aug. 26, 2019, at Norlite Nursing Center. She was born on April 14, 1932, in Bergland, to Olaf and Selena (Gullans) Kallaak. Gloria graduated as valedictorian from Bergland High School in 1949 and worked briefly in Duluth, Minn. In 1952, she married John Ferguson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland. John was a career U.S. Air Force NCO so they lived in many locations over the years, including Germany.... Full story

    IRONWOOD - Gogebic Community College reported Monday that formal notification reaffirming its accreditation status has been received from the Institutional Actions Council of the Higher Learning Commission. GCC has been continually accredited since 1949. A Higher Learning Commission evaluation team visited GCC in April and met with faculty, staff, various committees, trustees and community members.
