    IRONWOOD - The city of Ironwood is showing a 237% increase in absentee ballot applications from the last presidential election and the requests are still coming in, according to city clerk Karen Gullan. The absentee ballots were received at the city clerk's office late Thursday afternoon, Sept. 24, Gullan said.     BERGLAND, Mich. — James G. Corgiat, 80, of Bergland, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020. He was born Feb. 22, 1940, to the late Bernard and Mary (Pertile) Corgiat in Bessemer. Jim was an all-star athlete at A.D. Johnston High School earning 12 varsity letters. He went on to play football for Michigan State. He was inducted into the U.P. Sports Hall of Fame with the class of 2014. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. Cremation has taken place and interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.     GRAND RAPIDS — A plea agreement has been reached in the case of a White Pine man facing federal drug charges. Jesse James Monville, 46, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine in federal court in Grand Rapids Sept. 22 as part of an agreement that will have five other charges dismissed at his sentencing.     BRUCE CROSSING - VFW members in Bruce Crossing recently erected a new sign in front of the post on M-28. The sign, which cost more than $1,000, according to Roger Anttilla, commander of the Henry A. Holappa VFW Post 9345, was placed in front of the post last week.
