IRONWOOD - Four people who helped rescue an elderly Ironwood man from a burning vehicle last month were honored by the Ironwood City Commission on Monday. Leonard Korpi, 84, of 420 Douglas Boulevard, had experienced a medical issue while driving on March 28. ONTONAGON, Mich. — David Charles Karttunen, 74, of Ontonagon, passed away April 12, 2015, at his home. He was born May 17, 1940, in Detroit to Arthur and Viola (Korvenpaa) Karttunen. He moved to Green as a child and had resided there since. Dave attended school in White Pine and Ontonagon. After graduation, he was employed by the paper mill and worked there for 44 years.
