GLISSON [email protected] MARENISCO - Two successive rollover accidents on U.S. 2 were the result of dangerous driving conditions just east of the M-64 turn-off to Marenisco on Thursday evening. Michigan State Trooper Stephen Maxinoski, who was at one of the scenes, said both accidents occurred in the hour before 8:30 p.m. He said the drivers of both vehicles lost control because of highway ice.   • Gogebic County not involved in recreational marijuana act

    BESSEMER — Gogebic County has no authority to opt in or out of the recreational marijuana act. When the issue was raised by a citizen during public comment at a Dec. 12 county board of commissioners meeting, he was told by the board that the county can’t set zoning and wouldn’t be involved in the act. The board decided to seek an opinion from county prosecutor Nick Jacobs on the issue, however. Jacobs responded in a letter that was to be considered by the county board at its meeting today.     KIMBALL, Wis. - Rochelle "Shelley" (Vittone) Gustafson, 60, passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 12, 2018. Shelley was the daughter of Richard and Arlene (Puisto) Vittone, born Aug. 2, 1958. She graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer in 1976 and earned her LPN degree from Gogebic Community College.     GURNEY, Wis. — Roger Adamavich Sr. passed away on Dec. 16, 2018, peacefully at his home, and went to “His Happy Hunting Ground.” Roger was born on Dec. 14, 1938, to Joseph and Marcelli (Rowe) Adamavich. Roger attended school in Saxon, Wis. He worked for Wilbert Vault Company, and Hi-Bob as a self-employed logger. On March 7, 1959, Roger married Francelle Magdziak.
