    By TOM STANKARD [email protected] IRONWOOD - During winter break, area children celebrated Christmas early with a party at Ironwood Carnegie Library Tuesday afternoon. Dressed in Christmas attire, Assistant Library Director Lynne Wiercinski said children decorated Christmas cookies and made festive crafts. With the smell of sugar in the air, children decorated cookies using several types of candy, colored frosting and sprinkles. In the other room, children worked on arts and crafts.... Full story

  • Ironwood schools receive mini-grant

    By RICHARD JENKINS [email protected] IRONWOOD — The Ironwood Area Schools has been awarded a mini-grant from the Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative. The $3,800 mini-grant will be used to develop a curriculum revolving around an outdoor classroom, according to information presented at the district’s Monday school board meeting.   • Theodore 'Ted' Ramp

    IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Theodore “Ted” Ramp, 80, of E-4424 Piilola Road, Ironwood Township, died on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at his home. He was born Dec. 22, 1934, in Egg Harbor City, N.J., the son of Theodore Robert and Marie (Vessella) Ramp. He attended Egg Harbor City High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952 at age 17. On March 18, 1964, he married Bonita M. “Bonnie” Ripley. He remained in the Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Wars until retiring with 23 years of service.
