The three-day event normally takes place at the Porcupine Mountains Ski Area in Ontonagon, but it was moved this year due to inadequate snow at that site, which relies only on Mother Nature. IRONWOOD, Mich. - Scott Michael Peterson, 57, of Ironwood, passed away this week after a short bout with lung cancer. Scott was a lifelong resident of Ironwood. He was born in Wallace, Idaho, on Dec. 2, 1966, the son of Terry Ann Ruby and the late Lawrence "Lee" Peterson. Scott attended the Ironwood Area Schools. IRONWOOD — The lack of seasonal snow has forced Sisu Ski Race organizers to cancel this year’s races. It would have been the 15th annual event.
