"It's a big game, everybody gets up for it," Ironwood coach Kari Jacquart said. "I'm still used to Bessemer being our rival because that's who it was when we played. It was really...
IRONWOOD - After scoring just 23 points in the first half, reaching a five-year high on the scoreboard by game's end was about the last thing Ironwood expected Friday night. Ironwood was up 23-15 at the half before building a 20-point lead in the second half of the Indianhead Conference matchup, getting to the basket at will. Butternut cut...

The board had approved the team to compete last year, but re-approval was needed as the motion stated it was to be on a one-year trial basis. While the board’s motion didn’t specifically address the i...
IRONWOOD – Anticipation was in the air as a large-sized crowd gathered to watch the Gogebic Miners and Ironwood square off in a softball game on Tuesday. When it was over, a good Ironwood team defeated Gogebic 15-4, but the Red Devils only led 5-3 after three innings and the Gogebic f...
By RICHARD JENKINS [email protected] IRONWOOD — Barring any unforeseen derailments, Ironwood students will be taking the field as members of the Gogebic Miners this fall after the Ironwood Area Schools Board of Education voted Monday to join the co-op team. “There has been a big decline in the number of student athletes willing to participate in the sport of football,” Superintendent Tim Kolesar said. Given the low turnout in recent years, Kolesar said a number of districts in the area — including Ironwood — have eliminated their jun...
