Margaret Ella (Tiebel) Perttula

WAKEFIELD, Mich. — Margaret Ella (Tiebel) Perttula, 74, of 120 Olson Road, Wakefield, entered eternal life on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at her home, after a brief illness.

She was born on April 12, 1939, in Wakefield Township, the daughter of William and Amelia (Rast) Tiebel. Margaret was born in a log cabin her dad built on the shores of Lake Superior on Tiebel’s Creek. She graduated from Wakefield High School in 1958.

During her younger years, she worked at the S.S. Kresge Co. and the A&P Supermarket.

On July 11, 1959, Margaret was united in marriage to Leonard Charles Perttula at Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood.

She attended Gogebic Community College and became a certified nurse’s aide. Margaret was a CNA for more than 25 years and was employed by Josephson Nursing Home, Grand View Hospital, Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center and Sky View Nursing Center.

For the past eight years, she worked at Keen Agers, and retired in the fall of 2012.

Margaret was a faithful member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield, where she was a greeter and Lector.

Margaret and Leonard enjoyed countless hours visiting with friends at local restaurants and the Holiday Station Store in Wakefield.

Margaret was a kind soul, had an infectious smile and was the best hugger. She touched the lives of so many in our community and will be sorely missed, yet remembered with love in our hearts.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Leonard; three sons, Bruce (Dawn), Wakefield, Brian (Judy), Crystal, Minn., and Byron, West Olive; five grandchildren, Alicia (Jason) Zazeski, C.J. (Amanda), Nathan, Kevin and Tia; and a brother, William Tiebel, Wakefield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Rose Tiebel, in infancy, and Sonya Rancel, on March 19, 1994.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 4, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 9:30 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Bill Jacobson officiating.

Lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield, later this spring.
