William 'Bill' E. Abramson

MARSHFIELD, Wis. — William “Bill” E. Abramson, 74, of Bruce Crossing, Mich., went to be with our Lord on June 11, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Bill was born Nov. 13, 1938, in Bruce Crossing to Edward Abramson and Margaret Abramson Ekstadt and was a life-long resident of Bruce Crossing. Bill graduated from Ewen High School and attended Michigan Technological University. He was united in marriage on Nov. 16, 1968, to Karen Hiitola in Trout Creek, Mich. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He also worked at the White Pine Copper Mine for 33 years, retiring in 2001.

Bill was very active in many functions. He was a life member of VFW Post 9345, and served in all capacities, including commander. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, the Detroit Tigers and the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed brightening everyone’s day with his quick wit, and giving anyone a laugh with his great humor.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Karen; three adoring children, Alan (Tammy) Abramson, of Mahomet, Ill .; Ann (Brian) Anderson, of California, Md., and Kevin Abramson, of Grand Rapids, Mich .; five wonderful grandchildren, Kevin, Jordan, Kelsey, Lauren and Cecilia; and siblings Betty (Edward) Applekamp, Joan (Stanley) Nurkkala and Eugene (Kathy) Ekstadt. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

His parents, as well as his brother, John Ekstadt, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 16, from 5-7 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home-Bruce Crossing Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, and interment with military honors will immediately follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Bruce Crossing.
