Speedgirls sweep Panthers on Senior Night

BESSEMER — The Bessemer Speedgirls swept Ewen-Trout Creek 25-18, 25-8, 25-10 in Monday’s Porcupine Mountain Conference match on Senior Night at the House of Noise.

“The seven seniors played a great night of volleyball in their last home game in the House of Noise,” Bessemer coach Shelly Mettler said.

Stats for the seniors were:

Sarah Trudgeon tallied seven aces, three kills and five assists. Brenna Bogaczyk had seven kills and a block. Allyson Hansen totaled four assists and three aces. Mikhayla Sampson finished with one kill and 20 digs. Julie Ahnen had two kills and four aces. Claire Tourville had eight assists and three aces. Jenika Laukka finished with an ace and a kill.

“The girls picked up their play in games two and three and finished on a strong note,” Mettler said. “This is a fun, hard-working group of girls.”

Bessemer goes to Ironwood on Thursday for a non-conference match.
