Carol J. Fisher

HOLMEN, Wis. — Carol J. Fisher, 66, of Holmen, Wis., formerly of Mellen, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013.

Carol was born on Nov. 28, 1946, in Ashland, the daughter of John and Myrtle (Peterson) Same. Carol was a graduate of Mellen High School. She then went on to receive her associate degree in nursing at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Mich., and worked as a loving and caring nurse at various facilities over the years.

Carol’s biggest joys in her life were her grandchildren, Brena and Brett, and many other children, as well. She was affectionately known as “Grandma” to many children. Carol also enjoyed gardening and loved planting and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She was a committed member of her church, Congregational United Church of Christ in Mellen, where she served as parish nurse for many years. Her church family meant the world to her.

Carol will always be remembered for her unique character, which was oftentimes very humorous. She was also a very thoughtful person, taking much time in preparing beautifully wrapped gifts which she gave to family and friends for all occasions, birthdays, holidays, etc., even though the gifts weren’t always on time. Carol was always interested to know what was going on in the lives of people she knew and often was quick to give advice.

Survivors include one daughter, Martina Davis, of Holmen; two grandchildren, Brena and Brett Davis, of Holmen; one sister, Sydney “Bunny” (Rodney) Sederholm, of Highbridge; three nieces, Tammie (Chris) Bretting, and her children, Josie and Bella Bretting, of Washburn, Wis., Dawn Sederholm, of Mequon, Wis., and Nicole (William) Osterman, of Ironwood; and one nephew, Shawn (Leslie) Sederholm, and their children, Brianne and Brandon Large, of Highbridge.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her two stepchildren, Debra West and Ronnie Miller; and her beloved dog, Fuzzer.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. at Congregational United Church of Christ, 117 S. West St., Mellen. The Rev. James Imse will officiate.

Burial will be in Highbridge Cemetery.

A visitation will be held Wednesday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
