Linda R. Benninger

OMA, Wis. - Linda R. Benninger, 65, of Pine Lake, Oma, was called home Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013.

She was born Dec. 13, 1947, in Freeport, Ill., daughter of Dean and Irene (Paul) Amendt. Linda attended the Lena Winslow High School, graduating with the class of 1966. She also attended Illinois State University.

For 25 years until retirement, Linda was employed as head librarian for the Lena District Library, where she was well liked by everyone who knew her. She enjoyed reading, beading and was a rock hunter and collector. She also liked to fish, ride four-wheelers, hike, canoe and kayak. She especially loved moose and bears.

Linda was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood, where she was a member of the Altar Guild and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

On June 17, 1967, she was married to James Benninger at St. John's United Church of Christ in Freeport. James survives.

Also surviving are a son, Matthew (Melinda) Benninger, of Marquette, Mich .; a daughter, Kerri (Scott) Lovell, of Naperville, Ill .; grandchildren, Caleb, Nate, Ava and Jacob; and parents, Dean and Irene Amendt, of Lena, Ill.

In accordance with Linda's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5104 E. Margaret St., Ironwood, on Friday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Wesley "Bo" Baumeister will officiate.

Linda's family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Inurnment will be in the Lena Burial Park.
