Mary Langa

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Mary Langa, 99, a longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 1, 2014.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1914, in Anvil, the daughter of Victor and Cilia (Broler) Soffietti. Mary attended Ramsay School and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer with the class of 1932.

On Nov. 5, 1938, she was united in marriage to Ted John Langa at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield by the Rev. Thomas Drengacz.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a wonderful homemaker.

She was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Women's Guild.

Mary is survived by a son, Roger (Joann), Bessemer; a daughter, Patricia (Lawrence) Chlebowski, Hoyt Lakes, Minn .; four grandchildren, Paul Chlebowski, Ironwood, Debra (Jim) Kaelke, Raymond, Minn., Scott (Tina) Langa, Wakefield, and Pam Langa, Bessemer; two sisters, Tillie McClure, Boca Raton, Fla., and Rose Chada, Sun City, Ariz .; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Diane.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Ted, on July 31, 1989; four brothers, Battesta, Louie, Nick and Charles Soffietti; and two sisters, Katherine Golembeski and Vera Drennan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield, with the Rev. Sebastian Ettolil, celebrant. Also in attendance will be the Immaculate Conception Women's Guild Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be her family.

A luncheon will take place immediately following the Mass in the church hall.

Rite of Committal and interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield, in the spring.
