Florence T. Erickson

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Florence T. Erickson, 86, of Ironwood, died peacefully Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital, with her family by her side.

The former Florence Revers was born May 19, 1927, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Kopnick) Revers, attended Ironwood schools, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1945. She was employed in office work for the Ironwood Area School District for seven years.

Florence was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She bowled and skated in her younger years and was formerly active in the A.L. Norrie School Parent Teacher Association. She also enjoyed polkas and waltzing and was a huge Brett Favre fan.

On Aug. 16, 1952, she was married to Carl A. Erickson at Holy Trinity Church by the late Rev. Ambrose Matejik. Carl preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2009.

Surviving are two sons, Allan (Cathy), Woodbridge, Va., and Brian (Virginia), Hudson, Wis .; five grandchildren, Steven (Jennifer), Michael, Elizabeth, Victoria and Andrew Erickson; a brother-in-law, Norris (Judy) Erickson, Port Washington, Wis .; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Dennis, May 20, 2010; and her brother, Donald Revers, Dec. 23, 2012.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 15, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family Room at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Robb Jurkovich, celebrant.

Luncheon will follow at the Iron Nugget in downtown Hurley.

Rite of Committal and interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the All Saints Catholic Academy Adopt-A-Student Program, 106 S. Marquette St., Ironwood MI 49938.
