Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties

Votes could win grant for Ironwood theater

To the Editor:

At a meeting of the Historic Ironwood Theatre Board of Directors Thursday, we discussed the many ways in which our area has been supportive of the current effort to secure $25,000 through the State Farm Insurance grant for the Youth Drama Club.

The support from multiple entities including the Ironwood Carnegie Library, Theatre North, the Kiwanis, local schools, radio stations and newspapers, the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District and local students themselves has been most heartening.

As a result of the support that’s been demonstrated, the Youth Drama Club has been in the winners circle for the funds throughout the first portion of the voting period.

Voting concludes on May 17, and 200 entities across the nation will be striving to be in the top 40 on the list. We need the help of as many Facebook users as possible to cast 10 ballots each day. This will ensure that we keep our Youth Drama Club firmly fixed in the top 40 group throughout the remainder of the voting period and can be readily accomplished.

To vote, search for the Historic Ironwood Theatre website online, hit the “Click here” button and follow steps 2 and 3 below, or:

1. Go to: apps.facebook.com/sf_neighbor_assist/.

2. Scroll down the page and click on the “Vote now” button.

3. Enter “Youth Drama Club” in the search box.

On behalf of the Historic Ironwood Theatre board members, thank you to everyone who has made this process go well, and to all who will be voting in the upcoming week.
