Mercer Loons hold 16th memorial bike rally

MERCER, Wis. - The Mercer Loons Motorcycle Club held its 16th annual memorial run bike ride Saturday afternoon.

"We hold it in memory of all our passed club members," said member Dave Riegler.

Member Scott Tomek led the group in a few moments of silence before heading out on the road at noon.

"Be safe and let's ride," he said.

Beginning at the Dear Lodge in Mercer, the ride included a 130-mile trip through Park Falls, Clam Lake, Butternut and Mellen.

The ride was also a poker run. "At every stop, you get a card and the one with the best hand at the end wins half the jackpot," Tomek said, "The other half is donated to local kids."

Entry cost was $10. Around 30 attended the event.

Upcoming events include the 27th annual Mercer Loon party at Dear Lodge on August 17. The event will include refreshments and live music.

"All proceeds go back to the school and the town," Tomek said.
