James M. 'Boomer' McRae

IRONWOOD, Mich. — James M. “Boomer” McRae, 58, of Ironwood, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, in Ironwood.

He was born June 3, 1956, in Bessemer Township, son of the late John D. and Doris (Nelson) McRae.

Boomer attended Ironwood schools, graduating from the Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1974. He attended Gogebic Community College, where he received his associate degree.

He was employed for many years in automobile sales for Bessemer Auto Company and Red’s Auto. At the time of his death, he was employed at Von Holzen Chevrolet, Buick and GMC in Ashland, Wis.

Boomer enjoyed the camp and spending time at Lake Gogebic. He enjoyed bird and deer hunting.

He is survived by five brothers, Dave (Cindy), Tom (Carol) and Dennis (Mary), all of Ironwood, Kelly (Jeannie) of Howell, and Brian (Jackie) of Trinity, N.C .; three sisters, Sue (Jerry) Anderson and Carol (Dennis) Novascone, both of Ironwood, and Peggy (Steve) Bryant, Palmer, Alaska; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Cremation has taken place at the Range Crematory in Hurley.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. Father Robb Jurkovich will be the celebrant. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church. Inurnment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.

Arrangements are by Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Ketola-Burla Funeral Home in Ironwood.
