Ironwood Carnegie hosts donut fundraiser

IRONWOOD - The Ironwood Carnegie Library hosted its first ever donut sale this fall to help fund programs and purchases for the library.

People were able to pre-order their donuts, which were made by Rigoni's Bakery, earlier this month, and pick them up Tuesday morning at the library.

Library director Elaine Erickson said Rigoni's donated all the packaging materials.

"We had both businesses and individuals contribute; we had very diverse support," she said.

The library sold pumpkin spice and apple sauce donuts, made fresh on Monday by Rigoni's.

Sandy Sharp, a member of the library's fundraising committee who was distributing donuts Tuesday, said October is also National Donut Month.

"It's been a very successful sale," Sharp said.

The library sold about 80 dozen donuts at $8 per dozen. Packages of six donuts were available for purchase.

"We're very appreciative of the community support," Erickson said, adding that the library plans to host another donut sale next year.
