Victor Eugene Hanson

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Victor Eugene Hanson, 86, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, after a brief illness.

Victor was born on March 31, 1928, in Wakefield, a son of Hans Victor and Lydia A. (Thompson) Hanson. He attended Wakefield Schools.

On June 27, 1959, Victor was united in marriage to Cleo Bell Nelson at Zion Lutheran Church in Newman Grove, Neb. They made their home in Wakefield.

Victor was an active member of All Saints Lutheran Church, where he served as Men's Club president for nine years.

Victor was employed by the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic Railroad, White Pine Copper Company, United States Forest Service and Big Powderhorn Mountain Ski Resort. After retirement, he enjoyed working in his yard.

Victor is survived by a son, Brad (April), Lake City; a daughter, Carol, Sun Valley, Calif .; four grandchildren, Dustin, Kim (Steve), Justin and Kathy (Jessie); two great-grandsons, Elijah and Oliver; a sister, Delores (the Rev. Eugene) Cedarholm, Rochester, Minn .; a brother, Paul (Cynthia), Belmont, Mass .; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Cleo, on Dec. 30, 2006; and his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and the Rev. Melvin Lofgren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Interment will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
