Accident on US 2 sends people to hospital

KIMBALL, Wis. - Area law enforcement officers and the Hurley Fire Department responded to the scene of a 10 p.m. Friday personal injury accident on U.S. 2, near the Corkscrew liquor store, east of County D.

The front end of a pickup truck was demolished, but it was unclear how many vehicles were involved in the crash.

An officer at the scene said all of the people involved in the crash were transported to Aspirus Grand View Hospital by Beacon Ambulances, while firefighters and police officers attempted to clear the scene so traffic could resume.

The truck ended up perpendicular to the highway.

Two ambulances left the scene around 10:05 p.m., but there was no immediate word as to how many people were injured as the Daily Globe prepared for its press run.

Two Hurley fire trucks responded, along with city police, the Iron County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

No other details were available at press time.
