Hurley students art featured in State Capitol Show

MADISON, Wis. - On Friday, March 6, seven Hurley high school students and art teacher Terry Davis visited Madison to attend the closing ceremony of the 2015 Youth Art Month State Capitol Show.

The show was on display in the Capitol Rotunda Feb. 21-March 6.

Artwork by students Julee Jackson, Patricia Smith and Cassidy Ofstad from the Hurley K-12 School was among more than 400 pieces of student work selected for the annual show.

Students Samantha Recla, Lynda Waldros, Karissa Recla and A.J. Mosconi also attended the event.

"Youth Art Month highlights the value of art and art education for all children and encourages public support for high quality art programs," Davis said. "Art education develops self-esteem, appreciation of the work of others, self-expression, co-operation and critical thinking skills."

The Hurley School District will hold its annual spring art shows on the two nights of the spring band and choir concerts on April 30 and May 7.

All artwork from the State Show can be viewed online at artisonia.com. The Hurley school is in the northwest region.
