Helen Oberto

MELLEN, Wis. - Helen Oberto, 94, of Iron Belt, passed away peacefully at Mellen Manor on Saturday, March 21, 2015, following a brief illness.

Helen was born Sept. 16, 1920, in Sagamore, Penn., daughter of the late Alexander and Sophia (Stephaniak) Juno, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood, Mich. with the Class of 1939.

On June 7, 1947, she was married to John Oberto of Iron Belt at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ironwood by the late Rev. C. L. Petranek. John preceded her in death on March 19, 1986. She was also preceded in death by brothers, George, Joseph, Frank, Alex, Edward and John Juno; and sisters, Mary, Sophie and Margaret Juno.

Surviving are sons, John (Mary), Iron Belt, and Donald (Rhonda), Orange Park, Fla .; granddaughters, Nina Oberto, Superior, Kelly (Eric) Wilkerson, St. Augustine, Fla., and Gina Ludwikowski, Ironwood; great-grandchildren, Kyra, Kailani, Kaiala, Keanu and Wyatt; a sister-in-law, Mary Juno, Ironwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was very proud to be the "oldest person in Iron Belt" for the past several years.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.

Inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Iron Belt.
