Donna J. Ikola

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Donna J. Ikola, 71, of Ironwood, died peacefully Thursday, April 2, 2015, in her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous, five-year battle with cancer.

The former Donna Dellich was born Feb. 21, 1944, in Ironwood, the daughter of Lillian (Delich) and the late Nicholas Dellich. She attended Anvil Location and Ramsay schools, A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer, and Gogebic Community College.

She worked for years in the craft department at Ben Franklin in Bessemer, at Fox Point in Ironwood, and in the deli at Carlson's Supermarket in downtown Ironwood. She then managed the Family Dollar Store in Ironwood, retiring due to ill health as manager of Al's Furniture in downtown Ironwood in 2010.

Donna's hobbies included fishing, gardening and knitting and crocheting for her family and grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, John (Wendy), Milan, Wis., and Roger, Ramsay; a daughter, Patricia Ikola, Ramsay; four grandchildren, Robert Ikola, Duluth, Minn., Roger (Danielle) Ikola, Bessemer, Alainna Ikola, Burnsville, Minn., and Natasha Anderson, Duluth; a great-grandson, Carsen Ikola; her mother, Lillian Dellich, Hurley, Wis .; brother, George Dellich, Bessemer; sisters, Susan Dellich and Frances Christine Dellich (Dan Taivalkoski), both of Racine, Wis .; an uncle, Robert Delich, Bessemer; sister-in-law, Judy (David) Pasqualucci, Ironwood; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and ex-husband, Roger (Beverly), Ramsay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 am., at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer, with the Rev. Antony Lukka, celebrant.

Luncheon will follow in the parish hall.

Rite of Committal and interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer, later this spring.

Pallbearers will be John Ikola, Roger Ikola Sr., Roger Ikola Jr., Roger Ikola III, Robert Ikola and George Dellich.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Regional Hospice Services, 100 S. Mill St., Bessemer, MI 49911.
