ONTONAGON, Mich. — David Charles Karttunen, 74, of Ontonagon, passed away April 12, 2015, at his home.
He was born May 17, 1940, in Detroit to Arthur and Viola (Korvenpaa) Karttunen. He moved to Green as a child and had resided there since.
Dave attended school in White Pine and Ontonagon. After graduation, he was employed by the paper mill and worked there for 44 years. He also attended heavy equipment school. On May 26, 1962, he married Pauline Conrad, in Green. They had two children: Kandy (JR) Richardson and Todd Karttunen.
Dave had a love of the outdoors, especially for hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. He loved the fall season. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was a devoted family man who will be deeply missed.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Dennis; daughter-in-law, Lynda (Roehm) Karttunen; and daughter, Kandy.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; son, Todd; grandchildren, Kyle and Rebecca; stepgrandchildren, Shannon and Ryan; sister, Marlene (Ernest) Johnson; brother, Doug (Sally) Karttunen; and many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Dave’s wishes, private family services will be held.
