GCC to host business symposium

IRONWOOD — Gogebic Community College will host a series of business-related events on Monday and Tuesday as part of the annual symposium centered around the college’s Spring Idea Bounce business plan competition.

Motivational speaker Patty Hendrickson, of La Crosse Wis., will speak at a number events, designed for both members of the college and the general community.

On Monday, Hendrickson will deliver a luncheon training session entitled “Decide to Thrive — Engaging People and Their Passions,” according to an announcement from the college. The session will “focus on connecting with people to improve working relationships that drive a culture of success,” according to the release.

Hendrickson will then participate in the college’s Idea Bounce competition, which provides students the opportunity to pitch their business plans to judges for a chance to win cash prizes. The competition is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Linquist Center.

Following the Idea Bounce, Hendrickson — who authored the book, “Who I Am Depends on Me!” — will deliver a presentation to the community at 6 p.m. in the Linquest Center based on the book, discussing strategies for success by engaging “your best self.” A reception at Maplewood Steakhouse will be held after the presentation.

On Tuesday, the college will host Nick Anderson as the keynote speaker of the first annual Connect Summit. The summit’s goal is to bring progress to the area through connecting regional stakeholders.

Anderson is the Chief Executive Officer of the Crispian Advantage and “has a diverse experience in managing and leading effective change and alignment projects,” according to the release.
