Sheriff's sale planned for Hurley hotel

HURLEY — The former Hurley Inn, most recently operated as Resident Inn and Suites, will be sold at a sheriff’s sale at 10 a.m. on Aug. 11.

According to a legal notice in the Iron County Miner, the property at 1000 Tenth Avenue North was foreclosed in Iron County Circuit Court on Feb. 10.

The price is listed at $229,455, with 10 percent to be posted at the time of the sale.

The sale will take place in the lobby at the county courthouse at Hurley.

At one time operated as a Holiday Inn, the lodging business has not been open for the past two years.

The motel at one time offered more than 100 beds. It also included a restaurant and tavern and hosted numerous weddings and graduation parties under previous ownership.

The purchaser is also subject to any unpaid taxes and payment of a real estate transfer fee.

Indiana Hospitality Real Estate and Management, of Bloomington, Ind., most recently operated the business. It is located on U.S. 51 between the Days Inn and Wisconsin tourist information center. Bhupen and Amy Ray, of Morris, Minn., are listed as defendants in the court action.

Impact Acceptance Corp., of Almena, Wis., is listed as the plaintiff.

The foreclosure court action began in October.
