Court decision erodes sovereignty of states

Letter to the Editor:

I am a literate fellow who has a copy of the Constitution of the United States and have recently read it from front to back several times.

Nowhere in our Constitution does the word marriage appear. I am utterly dismayed at the recent Supreme Court decision to allow gay marriage to become the law of the land. This is appalling. It legitimizes sodomy and perversion. Sodomy was considered a crime not that many years ago and rightfully so.

Justice Kennedy cites the 14th amendment as justification for the ruling. Is he perhaps looking at the phrases, “No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges...of citizens of the United States... nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws?” This is a real stretch of the liberal imagination of the Supreme Court. A crime is now OK? The individual states cannot regard a crime as a crime and legislate against it? The saddest part of this sorry state of affairs is that those people are allowed to rear children and teach those innocents that perversion is an acceptable lifestyle.

It all comes down to the government busily trying to pervert our beloved Constitution with the help of its lackeys on the Supreme Court and further erode the sovereignty of the individual states. Didn’t we once have a war which cost more American lives than in any other war over that very issue?
