Myrtle Ann 'Myrt' Miller

MERCER, Wis. - Myrtle Ann "Myrt" Miller, 92, of Mercer, died peacefully early Friday morning, Dec. 4, 2015, at home, with her loving family by her side.

The former Myrtle Goettsche was born July 21, 1923, in Chicago, daughter of the late Herman and Anna (Kramer) Goettsche, and graduated from Steinmetz High School there in 1941. She then was employed as a receptionist in a physician's office in Cicero, Ill. prior to her marriage to Robert G."Bob" Miller on April 15, 1944, in Maywood, Ill.

Bob and Myrt became the owners of Club 51 in Mercer in 1955 and served the Northwoods for 36 years. They shared many wonderful years with their customers and Teepee Tribe members. Myrt and Bob retired in 1990 to their home on Blue Gill Lake. Bob preceded Myrt in death on Nov. 30, 2012.

Myrt was a member and past secretary of the Mercer Lionness and the Greater Northwoods Tavern League, and was active in the Sno-A-Goers Snowmobile Club for many years.

Surviving are two daughters, Rita Klotter (Larry Jokipii) and Linda Miller (Donald) Smith, both of Mercer; a grandson, Robert Klotter, Antioch, Ill .; three great-grandchildren, Austin, Taylor and Hunter; her niece, Mary Ann Yates, Redding, Calif .; and nephew, Ronald Goettsche, Woodstock, Ill .; other nephews and niece, Dennis (Sybil) Miller, Iola, William Miller, Jr., Waupaca, Gary Miller, Hillside, Ill., and Midge (Jack) Cecil, Manawa; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Myrt was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Erwin Goettsche.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer, with Deacon Norbert Brossmer officiating.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Mercer Cemetery.

Members of the Mercer Lionness will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Ministry Home Care Hospice, P.O. Box 770, Woodruff, WI 54568.
