Vernon D. McGeshick

CRANDON, Wis. - Vernon D. McGeshick, "Ta-com-ma-wa-yoshi," 88, of Iron River, Mich., passed away Feb. 2, 2016, at the Crandon Nursing Home, Crandon.

Vernon was born April 10, 1928, in Mole Lake, the son of William and Helen (Petterson) McGeshick. He was united in marriage to Ida Charlotte Ackley Oct. 8, 1949. Vernon served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He started working at Wells Manufacturing in 1955, retiring in 1995. In 1996 he moved to Iron River.

He leaves behind five daughters, Josephine (James) Cottenham, Iron River; Donna (Benjamin) Scott, Iron River; Lori McGeshick, Illinois; Mary Brunk, Eagle River, and April McGeshick, Kingsford, Mich.; two sons, Vernon (Jennifer) McGeshick Jr, Watermeet, Mich., and Michael McGeshick, Mole Lake; 32 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ida; daughter, Dianna Scott; and grandson, Benjamin Scott IV.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at the Recreation Center, Mole Lake, with Mr. Rick Van Zile officiating. Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at the Recreation Center.
