IPSD to hold community awareness program

IRONWOOD — The Ironwood Public Safety Department will hold a community awareness program at Luther L. Wright from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a department announcement.

The program, held in room 232, is designed to inform parents, teachers and citizens about current drug and alcohol trends in schools, according to a department spokesman.

The program will include a discussion of purchasing drugs on the internet, e-cigarettes, prescription pills and different ways of using alcohol.

Many of the crimes committed in Ironwood area revolve around drug and alcohol, according to the spokesman.

“We strong encourage parents, teachers, those working with youth in our community and the general public to attend this program,” the spokesman said. “Working together we can better address the issues surrounding these problems.”

A second presentation will by held on March 23 to educate the community on drug abuse and the heroin problem in the area.
