Hurley - The Iron County Memorial Building Renovation Committee is continuing the process of renovating and improving the Memorial Building, ordering new bowling pins for the building's lanes and selling the old pins to the public.

There were approximately 100 pins for sale, with about half already sold, according to Jeff and Karen Tenlen, who operate the alley.

The Tenlens are looking to limit the number of pins each individual is able to purchase to 10, ensuring as many people as possible have a chance to purchase.

The sold pins have been used for everything from clocks and target practice to being installed in a home bowling alley, according to Karen.

"I was surprised how easy (selling the pins) was," Tenlen said.

The new pins were delivered to the Memorial Building on Tuesday.

As the renovation committee has been making improvements as the money becomes available, the funds raised from the sale of the pins will go to purchase additional bowling shoes for the lanes.

The remaining pins are for sale for $2 each and can be purchased by calling Karen at 906-364-4061.
