Iron trails to close Thursday

HURLEY — Iron County snowmobile and all-terrain vehicle trails will close effective Thursday at 12:01 a.m.

Iron County Forest Administrator Eric Peterson said Tuesday gates along the trails will be closed.

All ATV trails will remain closed until break-up conditions recede.

Peterson said ATV trails will open on a trail-by-trail basis as they dry up and have been inspected for wash-outs and grade integrity, estimated around mid-May.

Unseasonably warm temperatures hit the low 60s on Monday on the Gogebic Range, following a mild weekend, and the forecast calls for more of the same.
