Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties

Jessie Margaret Davison

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Jessie Margaret Davison, nee Teague, 95, of Green Bay, formerly of Ontonagon, Mich., beloved wife of the late Chester E. Davison, passed away peacefully May 22, 2016, at Autumn's Promise Assisted Living Facility.

Born Feb. 24, 1921, to Charles and Emily Teague in Farlow, England, she was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas.

Jessie met her future husband, Chester, while he was serving in the United States Army during World War II, and stationed on the Clee Hills, Shropshire, England, before being deployed to Europe. After the war, they were married Oct. 25, 1945, in Silvington, Shropshire, England, and soon moved to Chester's home town of Ontonagon to begin their life together.

Jessie and Chester owned and operated Davison's Corner Store in Ontonagon for many years until they retired to their home on Lake Superior and vacationed in Florida during the winters.

While in Ontonagon, Jessie was an active member of Eastern Star, played the organ at Church of Ascension and was very active in the community. She started The Kitchen Band with her friends to entertain people in the local hospital and community center that needed cheering up. The band consisted of seasonal costumes, bazookas, washboards and tambourines.

Winter can be long and brutal in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, so in 1999 they sold their home and moved to DePere to be closer to their grandchildren and cultural events. In DePere, she became active at St. Anne's church and introduced The Kitchen Band to her new friends at 430 Grant St. Everyone looked forward to seeing the girls perform at organized functions. Jessie had a zest for life and thoroughly enjoyed being with others. She was loved by many.

On their 50th wedding anniversary in 1995, Jessie and Chester renewed their vows in the same little stone church where they were originally married. Also attending the ceremony was her daughter, Dawn (Kirk), and son, Terry (Sandy), and all her family in England, including her sister, Grace, brother, Trevor, and many other family members, acquaintances and friends.

Jessie is survived by her daughter, Dawn M. Davison (Kirk Moser), Gurnee, Ill .; her son, Terrence C. Davison (Sandra Kallunki), Allouez; her brother, Trevor Teague (Enid), Farley, England; her sister, Grace Mathews, Kidderminster, England; her two granddaughters, Kaisa and Kirsten Davison, who will miss her terribly, along with all the English traditions she introduced to us, which will always be a part of our lives; and many nieces and nephews in England.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 29, from 1 to 3 p.m. EDT at Cane's Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Riverside Cemetery.
