U.S. 2 reopens to 'light vehicle' traffic

ASHLAND, Wis — Most drivers can once again get to and from Ashland using U.S. 2, after the highway reopened for “car and light vehicle” traffic Saturday.

The highway had been closed after storms the night of July 11 washed out part of the road and caused the Bad River to flood over the roadway.

According to a post on the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page, a detour around the Kakagon Bridge has been opened.

Heavy trucks and semis are prohibited from using this detour and must continue to use the established detour of U.S. 51, to Wisconsin 77, to Wisconsin 13 south, to Wisconsi...
