Susan J. 'Susie' Matusewic

WAUSAU, Wis. - Susan J. "Susie" Matusewic, 59, of Hurley, died Friday, July 15, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau.

The former Susan Doane was born Oct. 1, 1956, in Wakefield, Mich., daughter of the late Elliott and Marilys (Trudgeon) Doane, and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer, Mich. in 1974. She resided in Fort Polk, La., for three years, then returned to Bessemer.

She married Daniel L. Matusewic on May 28, 1983, in Hurley where they made their home on Oak St. Danny preceded Susie in death on June 4, 1994.

Susie worked briefly in housekeeping at Haven North Condominiums in Hurley and was manager of the video department at Copps for 12 years. She enjoyed watching old John Wayne movies and Law & Order and loved to walk her dogs, Coco, Marko and Bailey.

Surviving are two daughters, Jamie (Steve) Mattson, Merrill, and Melissa Matusewic, Hurley; three grandchildren, Jakob, Dawson and Nathan; a brother, Donald (Sandy) Doane, White Bear Lake, Minn .; niece, Kari Ann Barnaby, Green Bay; brothers-in-law, Milo Barnaby, Green Bay, and Joseph Matusewic, Waukesha; and sisters-in-law, Mary (Jerry) Mattson, Iron Belt, and Margie Waupoose, Keshena.

Besides her parents and husband, Susie was predeceased by a sister, Mary Lee Barnaby.

There will be no formal services.

Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood.

Private interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley.
