IRONWOOD, Mich. - Marian L. Wasley, 93, passed away in the loving arms of her husband, Tom, on Friday, Aug. 26, 2016.

Marian was born in San Coulee, Mont., on Jan. 28, 1923, to Ronald and Evelyn Guthrie. Her family lived in Duluth, Minn., before moving to Ironwood, where she graduated from Luther L. Wright High School with the Class of 1941.

After high school graduation, she worked at Bendix Corporation in Wayne. She eventually moved back to Ironwood and married her high school sweetheart, Tom, on Aug. 21, 1944.

While raising their family, Tom worked in various mines and during lay-offs, they moved to Park Falls and Wausau, Wis., eventually returning to Ironwood, where she worked at Hurley Electronics for 10 years. After raising their family, Tom accepted a job with the Mine Safety and Health Administration and they moved to Lansing. While in Lansing, she was employed by Michigan State University. Tom's employment relocated them to Hibbing, Minn., and Fort Dodge, Iowa, before finally retiring in Ironwood. Although she left the area, she always considered Ironwood her home.

In her retirement years, she and Tom enjoyed winters in Florida, visiting friends, casino trips, dancing, playing cards and cribbage. She was very active in the Aurora Athletic Club Auxiliary, the Class of '41 Reunion Committee and she was a volunteer at the Ironwood Theatre.

Marian was a quiet, giving person, who cared deeply for her family and loved helping her friends. She and Tom recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.
