Mildred K. Maki

GREENDALE, Wis. - Mildred K. Maki, 94, formerly of Union Grove, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at Harbour Village Senior Living Center, Greendale.

She was born Aug. 22, 1922, to George and Clara (nee Brissou) Garreau, in Bessemer, Mich. Her early life was spent in northern Wisconsin. On Jan. 31, 1942, she was united in marriage to the late Tauno Maki in Montreal. He passed away July 3, 2012. Following their marriage, they resided in Ironwood, Mich.

In 1963, they relocated to Union Grove. She worked as a caregiver at Southern Colony. Mildred was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dover and a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. Mildred loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Ted (Patty) Maki, of New Berlin, and Leonard Maki, of Greendale; nine grandchildren, and many great- and great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband; two sons; Donny and Ken Maki, and 12 siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Sept. 12, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dover, with Rev. Yvon Sheehy officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow service at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

The family has suggested memorials be made to the Salvation Army.

Mildred's family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to her niece, Florence Busch, for the unconditional love and compassion she showed her Aunt Millie and to the caring and compassionate companions that spent many hours with Millie.
