Nature Walk

SANDY LOTTO, of the Northwoods Land Trust, leads a group of 16 on a tour of Interstate Falls property Friday afternoon, stopping along the way to identify a hemlock tree. The walk from the new parking area just north of U.S. 2 in Kimball, Wis., is just one-third of a mile down a trail to the waterfalls. Lotto told the group that the land was once owned by Don and Nancy Siebert, and then purchased by the trust with funds from a state grant and private donations to preserve access to the falls. Later, the property was deeded to the town of Kimball, according to Lotto.
