Ann K. Wienen

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Ann K. Wienen, 90, of Ironwood Township, died peacefully Tuesday morning, Oct. 25, 2016, at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield.

The former Ann K. Timoshuk was born March 25, 1926, in Bruce Crossing, daughter of the late Alex and Anna (Olson) Timoshuk, and graduated from Ewen High School in 1943.

She married Ellis W. Wienen on Jan. 17, 1948, in Galena, Ill. They moved to Ironwood from Aledo, Ill., in 1959. Ellis preceded Ann in death on Feb. 11, 2005.

Ann worked as a cashier in the lunch room at Luther L. Wright High School for many years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She loved going to the casino and enjoyed collecting elephant figurines. She also made the best chocolate chip cookies in the world. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are a son, Michael (Lori), Duluth, Minn .; two daughters, Gail (Peter) Armichardy, Bessemer, and Sharlene (Trent) Thomas, Copemish; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lila Branca, Providence, R.I., Elizabeth (William) Hester, Hope Mills, N.C., Cathy (Jerry) Perttula, Trout Creek, Ginny (Ray) Martin, Bushnell, Fla., Dorothy (Jackie) Pottala, Kenton, and Shirley Decker, Plainwell; sister-in-law, Jenny Wienen, Galena; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Timoshuk; sisters, Mary Pitkanen, Ella Jakkola and Margie Sironen; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family Room at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Robb Jurkovich, celebrant.

Luncheon will follow in the parish hall.

Rite of Committal and interment will take place after lunch in Sunset Acres Cemetery, Ironwood Township.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Hessell, Trent Thomas, Michael J. Wienen, Brett Wienen, Peter Armichardy and Tony Welch.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Regional Hospice, 216 Aurora St., Ironwood, MI 49938.
