Ironwood - The SISU Snowshoe race was held despite the frigid cold on Sunday morning, dozens of racers turned out for the event.

As racers lined-up, several supporters were there to cheer them on for the race. A fire was kept beside the finish line for the crowd and racers to warm-up afterwards.

The course went through some of the wider ski trails with several smaller snowshoe trails included throughout. "It's a fun race through a beautiful trail." said Race director, Jackie Powers.

After the race, there was an award ceremony, refreshments, and door prizes donated by local businesses.

There were just over 30 racers in all. The first place winner, Brent Kann of Eau Claire, Wisc., came through with an official time of 21:20.
